Hungarian September events - 2 in 1

Two great competitions in one trip on Lake Balaton

Sept. 11-15 European Masters Championship – Tihany
Sept. 18-22 Hungarian Championship – Balatonfüred

The European Masters Championship is based on the successfull Masters Europe Cup hold by THE Club in the last two years in Tihany the peninsula of the Lake Balaton. It was voted by the masters sailors to develop the competition to a European championship as a new main masters regatta.

As the Masters Worlds is always sailed on the Sea the Europeans may  favour lake sailing. Last year in a very well organised but still familiar competition 61 boats took part representing 8 countries. The Winner was Fabris Minski (CRO).

Also the Hungarian Championship’s fleet is great as 60 boats participated in 2012. The winner was Zsombor Berecz right after he switched from Laser to Finn after the London Games. This year he has already proved his potential by finishing 14th in the Europeans in Warnemünde and 7th on the Gold Cup.

The best sailors are expected to take part from the neighbouring countries. As far as it means CRO, SLO, AUT, SVK, UKR and ROM the quality of the fleet is inevitably qualitative. According to the latest news the actual European Champion Vasilij Zbogar and Ivan Kljakovic-Gaspic (Bambi) will also take part.

This year the host club is the MVM SE in their beautiful Marina Koloska. The THE and MVM clubs are just a 15 minutes drive away from each other. Both competitions are sponsored by Pata Marine.

The winner of the European Masters will earn the right to use a brand new Pata Finn and Pata Carbon Mast for one year including the full technical support and personal development aids of the boatbuilder.

Also Pata boats are offered for charter to both the European Masters Championship and the Hungarian Championship. Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
