Finn South American Championship 2026 to be held in Rio de Janeiro alongside the SSL Gold Cup Finals
The 2026 Finn South American Championship will be held from 18 to 22 November 2026 at the Iate Clube do Rio de Janeiro, one of Brazil’s most traditional yacht clubs and a historic venue for major international sailing events.
This year’s championship will have a particularly special setting, as it will take place during the same period as the SSL Gold Cup Finals, with several sailing events and activities taking place in Rio de Janeiro. This will create a unique opportunity to promote the Finn Class in South America and to bring together sailors from Brazil, Argentina, Chile and other countries in a highly visible international sailing environment.
Following the excellent 2025 Finn South American Championship held in Olivos, Argentina, the Brazilian Finn fleet is looking forward to welcoming the South American Finn community to Rio de Janeiro. The event aims to be more than just a championship: it is intended to be a true gathering of the Finn Class in South America, combining competitive racing, good organisation, social activities and the traditional friendship among Finn sailors.
Racing will take place on the waters of Guanabara Bay, a renowned and challenging sailing venue that has hosted numerous national and international championships, including Olympic sailing events. The combination of the bay’s tactical conditions, the setting of Rio de Janeiro and the presence of the SSL Gold Cup Finals will make this edition of the South American Championship a special occasion for the class.
The Brazilian Finn Class is working to encourage strong participation from the national fleet and to support visiting sailors, including assistance with logistics, local information and social programming.
Further information, including the Notice of Race, entry details and the event programme, will be published shortly.
The Brazilian Finn Class warmly invites all Finn sailors to reserve the dates and join us in Rio de Janeiro for what we hope will be a memorable celebration of Finn sailing in the region.
