FINNatics

In 1999, the IFA published FINNatics - The History and Techniques of Finn Sailing to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the launching of the first Finn in Sweden in 1949.

The IFA printed 2,000 copies of the book, but by 2004 the majority had sold. If you want to buy one now, they are hard to come by. Rumours are that copies change hands on eBay for ridiculous prices!

FINNatics was really a sequel to Peter Mohilla's FINNLOG, published in 1986. Much of the material in FINNatics was taken from FINNLOG and brought up to date. Other material was taken from FINNFARE, yachting magazines and some was written specially for the book by Finn sailors past and present.

A new edition is planned sometime in the new couple of years. A CD is also being put together with PDF files of all the chapters from the 1999 edition. Pricing and availability for this will be announced soon.

Some of these files are available for download from this site. For this you will need Adobe Reader which can be downloaded here. We have not included all chapters on this page (if you want them all you have to buy the book or the CD), but have included what we think are the most useful.

A full contents list follows. Where there are hyperlinks, these are the downloadable PDF files. Some are quite large so the size is also given alongside.
